Our Philosophy

We at TROPiK are strong believers of the Mantra, लोकाःसमस्ताःसुखिनोभवन्तु (LokahSamastahSukhinoBhavantu), which has the deep and profound meaning: “May All beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of one’s own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for All.”

With every project that TROPiK gets involved in, we think and work hard to see how we as a practice, through our design and implementation of our projects, can instil tranquillity, happiness and peace in the lives of our clients, their loved ones, and the society at large.

Our Principal

TROPiK’s technical and design expertise is led by its principal, George Koshy.  George Koshy, with professional qualifications in Civil Engineering, Planning, Business Management and Energy Management, has an impressive track record of over 25 years of professional excellence in the fields of planning, design, engineering, environmental design & sustainability and project management in various parts of the globe.

Having established TROPiK as a boutique practice, with a view to offer world class design services that are locally appropriate, George Koshy strives to create spaces for his clients to relax their body and soul, to help them retreat into a cocoon and thereby escape from the worries of their everyday lives.  It gives George Koshy immense joy and pride in creating micro-sanctuaries for his clients that harmoniously weave interior living spaces with courtyards and gardens that can be enjoyed all year round

Our Process

At TROPiK, we treat every project as a journey together with the client, a journey which we seek to make least bumpy as possible.  We believe in the principle that building designers must not offer their own designs to their clients; instead they should use their imagination and expertise to offer the unique design that the client aspires for and a particular building site warrants.  Therefore, we start the project design and development journey by closely listening to our client’s requirements, and taking into consideration the opportunities and constraints offered by the site and its surroundings.  Conceptual ideas that would incorporate TROPiK’s core philosophy, i.e. to bring about a sense of zen to design, are discussed at this stage.  Preliminary design ideas are then formed, which are shared with the client.  After obtaining feedback from the client, we then proceed to developing building plans.  During this process, every space is carefully considered against the client’s requirements and also against the ethos of TROPiK, which is to offer the client a tranquil nesting experience in a beautiful abode.  After going through multiple iterations, a spatial plan is finally selected which is then be detailed to the client’s requirements, including 3D renderings or walk-through illustrations as needed.  Necessary building approvals are then obtained from the authorities and then the construction works are ready to commence.  Through the construction works, TROPiK plays a crucial role in design implementation, material selection and quality control.  TROPiK’s professional involvement continues only till the building works are completed and the building completion certificate is obtained from the authorities, but we strongly believe that the personal relationship that we establish with our clients would last a lifetime.

We work with leading civil contractors, specialised sub-contractors, skilled artisans, material suppliers, furniture manufacturers and landscape suppliers in successfully realising the dreams of our clients.
